Visualizing Sameness

In many ways, we have no way of knowing how our own lives compare to others'. Do we fall into what’s "normal" for our age group, gender, or other demographic details? A visualization by Nathan Yau, found here, allows you to visualize how closely your habits align with others'.
The visual lists several categories along the y axis of the graph—"personal care" and "work", to name just a few—with a line illustrating the amount of time the average person in a certain demographic spends on each subject. Entering different statistics at the top—such as changing gender or age—causes the lines to shift to feature that demographic.
Of course, for each demographic investigated, Yau used a sample size of 100, so the data might not be exactly generalizable to the population. However, it provides a unique chance to see 'how you stand' when compared to others in terms of how you spend your time. I think it would be interesting to expand the visualization to more scenarios, and personality indicators, in the future.
The simplicity of this visualization appealed to me and I felt this clean, statistics-driven visual was fitting considering our current project.
