Using Excel to Create Art?
As I was
thinking about utilizing my data in my Processing code and my wearable, I cam
across this article about Japanese artist Tatsuo Horiuchi who creates artworks with
Microsoft Excel. His “paintings” are remarkably intricate works that mimic
traditional Japanese paintings that offer scenic views of rural Japanese
landscapes with cultural motifs. Specifically, Horiuchi uses simple vector drawing
tools developed primarily for graphs and shapes.
I think it’s so fascinating how traditional art materials
used to be paint, paper, sculptures, etc. Now, we have access to so many
different forms of medium to create virtually anything.
