Public Intervention: Swarthmore College

In light of our frustration with the proposal rejections for our class, dealing with the college's bureaucracy, and staging a public intervention around that idea... I was reminded of this very much current issue that a nearby college (and a place I used to frequently visit) was facing.

These past few days, Swarthmore College students and students from its neighboring colleges have been closely following the events unfolding following the leaked documents and the ongoing history of racism, homophobia, and sexual violence on Swarthmore's fraternities Phi Psi and DU. Students have organized sit-ins at the fraternity houses as an act of demonstration against the administration's hesitant and lack of response to the appeals for the fraternities to be shut down more permanently rather than the temporary ban.

Swarthmore student activists are staging a sit-in and demanding the closure of two fraternities after the leak of documents showing racist, homophobic and sexist language as well as jokes about sexual assault allegedly from past frat members.
