Is The 'Instagram Aesthetic' Dead?

For many years, we've witnessed the rise of Instagram and perfect feeds, complete with pristinely calculated shots of trendy foods, 'Instagram Walls,' etc. However, according to this article from The Atlantic, the popularity of this perfect curation is coming to a close, and influencers are struggling to continue growing their pages are tastes change.

The pendulum is shifting towards less perfect feeds. Mirror selfies are being re-popularized, and the overall trend is towards more authentic and raw images. Instead of editing photos to be perfect, some influencers are editing their photos to look old and scratchy instead.

Is the rise of an anti-Instagram aesthetic just a new trend or a real shift, acknowledging the pressures that perfection puts on people and its detrimental effects? As a user, it's refreshing to see these more normalized feeds, but it's hard to predict when this will become too mainstream to be cool anymore.
