Hudson Yards, the twist of space

The new beacon of New York, Hudson Yards, debuted earlier this month and attracted attention from all over the world. It is not only another astonishing work of the British designer/engineer Thomas Heatherwick, stepping him into one of the world's most beloved designer, but also a luxurious vessel on money which should be put into construction of poverty-stricken areas.

The funding of the whole project comes from program EB-5, which is a controversial investor visa program, and the money is meant to jumpstart investment in remote rural areas, or distressed urban ones. To use the money, the state government of New York adjusted the requirements of distressed areas.

I'm astonished about the sense of responsibility of government in this capital operation. It seems that they only take money into account and put the low-income people aside.
