Jason Salavon and Data Visualization
In one of our readings for this unit, there was a brief description of Salavon and his work in artistic data visualization. Some of the works featured in the readings was his work with averaging colored pixels to create a painting of every high school yearbook photo from different decades, and his work with the colors of the frames from the film Titanic. I was intrigued by his work, and visited his website to find even more interesting pieces that I encourage you to check out! Below are some of his work with the show The Simpsons:
Every single "couch gag" from the first 26 seasons of The Simpsons.
Color information for every single episode from the first 26 seasons of The Simpsons
He added a note that he will stop producing these sort of works of amalgamation after he decided that he doesn't have much more left to contribute: "I don't much feel like I have anything left to contribute to this particular conversation. You never know, I just don't see it happening. Down the road, I'll try to expand on this topic." I'm excited to see what he has to offer other than these sorts of artworks.
