As we wrap up our studies of Calvino's Invisible Cities, I came across this article (https://news.illinoisstate.edu/2019/02/illinois-state-university-wind-symphony-to-present-invisible-cities-february-16/) that advertised Illinois State University School of Music's symphony concert last weekend. They performed Dinuk Wijeratne’s Invisible Cities: a Concerto for Percussion Quartet and Wind Ensemble, a five-movement concerto featuring musical responses to the different cities in Calvino's Invisible Cities. I personally felt like I could also read Calvino's novel lyrically and was intrigued whether there had been other musical adaptations of the novel or not.

It features an opera inspired by Invisible Cities that Christopher Cerrone found to be the most inspiring: "More than any other of his books, this one cried out to be sung." Check out the video:
