Guggenheim Targeted by Protesters

After our discussion of Hilma af Klint and her work on display at the Guggenheim, I felt inspired and was planning for a visit to go see the exhibition next weekend. While doing some more research on the Guggenheim, I came across this article about the recent protest/demonstration at the Guggenheim for their involvement with the Sackler family -- who own Purdue Pharma that produces OxyContin drugs -- by receiving a large amount of donations from them. A worthwhile and interesting read especially to consider to what extent the source of support for the arts matters for us, its viewers.

Nan Goldin stages a ‘die-in’ during the protest at the Guggenheim against funding by opioid manufacturers.
