Confronting the National Gallery of Art

I meant to post this a couple of days ago when this happened but I thought it was
interesting that there had been a protest at the National Gallery of Art in DC.
The protest was held by Radical Matriarchy to protest the inequalities of whose
work gets shown and idolized in museums. According to Radical Matriarchy,
"90 percent of the NGA’s pieces are created by white men, and less than 3 percent
of the works were created by people of color." I think it is an interesting idea to think
about who gets to be inside a museum especially as we talked about Hilma af Klint
and how she did not get the recognition until recently. Who gets the right to say what
artists are better than others? Who gets the right to police this space?
